Uganda 2010

Mission Description:

WHY GO?

From the Word of God...

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations..."  Matthew 28:18-20

"Whom shall I send? and who will go for us?  And I said, Here I am, send me."  Isaiah 6:8

"How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news."  Isaiah 52:7

WHY UGANDA?

An oppressed society in religious and economic decline, social disintegration with massive basic human needs ignored through years of dictator rule and the eight-year reign of Idi Amin.  Uganda is now open to receive the Word of God and receive assistance dealing with its many basic humanitarian needs.  With a population of 32 million, 50% under the age of 15 and with 3 million orphans, the needs are great.

SCOPE

Over 25 churches in the USA have come together in a loose knit association to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in East Africa.

RMBC has planted four churches in eastern Uganda in the past three years after a fact finding trip in 2006 by our Pastor Bruce Miles.

We work alongside the Presbyterian Church of Uganda, more specifically, the Mbale church pastored by Morris Ogenga.  Under his direction, assisted by his wife Aidah, over 80 churches have been planted in Eastern Uganda, Western Kenya and Northern Tanzania.

The trips emphasize hut-to-hut evangelism, church planting, open-air crusades, evangelistic meetings at schools and prisons and discipleship of the prior church plants along with opportunities to hold conferences with youth, pastors and pastors wives from Uganda and surrounding countries.  Ugandan pastors for the new churches are supplied through the Covenant Bible Institute of Theology located on the Mbale church campus.

In addition to drilling much needed water wells, hygiene training occurs and basic medical supplies are left with the churches.  Some 90 orphans are now being cared for at the Lulwanda Children's Home, established in 1994 as part of the overall effort.  See www.ugandaorphans.org.

Funds are sent in advance to purchase land, build a church and pastor's home.  In addition, water wells are drilled along with providing various items for the new church such as Bibles, sound systems, keyboards and benches.

We are utilizing a "cluster" approach with most of the churches planted in a 3-4 mile proximity of each other.  God is leading us to explore future schools and medical clinics for the people of this area.

THE FUTURE, IS GOD CALLING YOU?

If you sense God calling you to this ministry of church planting...If you have a burden to work towards the establishment of a Christian school in the vicinity of the planted churches...If you are being touched by the huge humanitarian needs in the medical arena...

"The harvest is plentiful, but hte laborers are few; therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest."  Luke 10:2

If God is calling you, certainly He has a place for you to serve Him in Uganda.
